- Colorado Technical University, Capella University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Excelsior College, and Northern Virginia Community College are this year’s winners of the education technology WOW awards.
- The award winners include a personalized learning system from CTU, a competency-based direct assessment degree program at Capella, and self-paced mastery-based online courses at UWM.
- The WOW awards are issued at the annual meeting of the WICHE Cooperative for Educational Technologies (WCET), a division of the Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education.
Excelsior was awarded for its OWL online writing lab, which helps students with documentation and grammar, and is accessed from computers, tablets or smartphones. Northern Virginia Community College won for an open education resource project that allows students in 15 courses to avoid purchasing textbooks, Campus Technology reported.
The awards are meant to recognize innovative technology solutions to problems facing higher ed.
