• Liberal arts and sciences graduates now have a pathway to a career in computer science and engineering, thanks to a new bridge program announced by New York University's Tandon School of Engineering. The "Bridge to Tandon" program offers basic instruction on programming, algorithm development and system fundamentals as an admission accelerator for its master's in engineering program. 
• Offered to domestic students only, officials say the program is a unique chance for non-computer science graduates to create work opportunities in cybersecurity, analytics and artificial intelligence.
• Courses are offered online in 15-week intervals, and the cost of the full program is $1,500.

Several colleges and universities are developing similar pathways for students outside of STEM majors to create more learning opportunities in emerging fields, but there are other credentialing areas beyond STEM which can help to produce positive postgraduate outcomes for graduates. 

If the public is demanding the institutions take more of a role in preparing graduates for the workforce, part of the goal is to make sure that graduates have more than one way to make a living, find social mobility and avoid crushing student loan debt. These pathways, with low costs for admission and flexible scheduling, are an ideal start.
