Global Kids Receives Grant from Best Buy Foundation For $10,000
New York, NY, November 12, 2018 - - Global Kids is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 grant from the Best Buy Foundation. The funds will support Global Kids’ Mobile Makerspace Project, which will be critical for the expansion of its groundbreaking Digital Learning and Leadership program. The grant will support the integration of makerspace tools and technology into the organization’s unique global education, youth leadership, and STEM programming, allowing Global Kids Leaders, youth who are traditionally underrepresented in STEM fields, to build new STEM skills and foster engagement. Global Kids Mobile Makerspace Project will not only provide a hands-on learning environment with access to the latest technologies, but it will also encourage youth to gain a deeper understanding of critical global and local issues.
The grant was awarded through Best Buy’s Community Grants Program that supports programs providing youth with access to new technologies and assisting them with digital learning to develop skills for future education and career success.
“This grant will allow our youth to have the tools and resources they need to channel their creativity and concern about global issues into concrete projects using maker technology. We are grateful to Best Buy Foundation for their support,” stated Executive Director Evie Hantzopoulos.
