Bryant University, a long-time Ellucian Banner customer, elected to move its ERP solution to the cloud to support its strategic priority of continuing to enhance its facilities and technologies to support academic and student life on campus. Banner provides Bryant with improved ease of use for faculty, staff, and students while the cloud portion helps the university remain cost competitive and resilient.
“After nearly 20 years on the same ERP solution, we were ready for a more modern platform that could keep pace with the expectations of today’s students and workforce,” said Bryant VP of information service and CIO, Chuck LoCurto. “We conducted a thorough evaluation of the cloud ERP solutions available today and determined that staying with Banner but moving to the most current version in the cloud was the best business case for us.”
Bryant went live with Banner 9 on-premise in January 2018 and will move to cloud in early 2019 to streamline technology and business processes, free up resources, and create new efficiencies across departments.
The move to cloud allows Bryant to more easily access the most current application releases while allowing the institution to focus on serving students. In addition to meeting continuous availability needs, cloud-based applications offer Bryant disaster recovery and business continuity options without requiring additional spend on backend infrastructure and support. Bryant will leverage the Ellucian Ethos framework to integrate Banner with systems already on campus and standardize integrations for any future solutions.
“For many institutions, finding a path to the cloud is a pivotal step as they position their institutions to evolve with the constant growth and changing nature of higher education,” said Ellucian Senior Vice President, Product Management, Kari Branjord. “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Bryant University as they modernize their infrastructure with Banner and deliver a campus experience rooted in cloud technology.”
