CollegeAPP Announces Rapid Expansion of Statewide Predictive Models for Educational Intent and Institutional Preference Among Adult Population
Company sets goal of all 50 states by end of 2020 after successful California test
[Los Angeles, CA, April 2, 2020]: CollegeAPP, the predictive analytics firm serving the higher education industry announced today a new timeline to bring additional states online, with a goal of having full national coverage by the end of 2020.
“There’s a tremendous need,” said CollegeAPP founder Jack MacKenzie. “The education to employment ecosystem has taken a big hit due to COVID 19. So many people have lost or are in the process of losing their jobs and there is a great deal of uncertainty about what happens next.”
“We are confident that millions of Americans will need an education system ready to educate and train them, either online or in-person, and we want equip colleges and training centers with the tools needed to meet that demand.” MacKenzie said.
The company announced a series of statewide initiatives, organized by region, to expand the adult student identification and recruitment service. Based on consultation with educational leaders across the country, CollegeAPP will prioritize the industrial Midwest and the populous mid-Atlantic corridor over the next sixty days.
The company set the following goals for fully developed person-level models at the state level:
May: Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Missouri, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana and Kentucky
June: New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts
Scott Porter, chief data scientist at CollegeAPP, says now is the time to get to work. “The pandemic will likely forever change the mindset of adults about education, training and access to the jobs they will need. We have the responsibility to ensure their needs are identified and measured so the education to employment pathway is wide open.”
The US Census Bureau estimates more than 120 million Americans have not completed college or obtained advanced technical training beyond high school. Many states have set education attainment goals in order to increase the number of post-secondary degree and certificate holders in their state but are stalled in their attempts to gain traction with adults.
CollegeAPP is the first of its kind predictive analytics service designed to identify those adults in America who want and need education but who so far have not accessed it. “There are a number of barriers. Awareness of opportunities is the first one to overcome,” said MacKenzie. “Right behind that, is process. How does an adult student apply, enroll and find the time and money to do so. It’s daunting for millions of people who want and need additional training.”
CollegeAPP and Santa Clara’s University’s Leavey School of Business recently released results of the first market test of CollegeAPP’s proprietary Intent and Preference predictive models, leading to a 2.65x increase in engagement compared to previous digital marketing campaigns.
“This test was a real win for us,” said Andrea Shaw, the assistant dean of marketing at the Leavey School of Business. “CollegeAPP’s scored files were much more efficient in reaching potential candidates and their hands-on approach to managing our campaign was refreshing.”
“The results of our field test with Santa Clara confirmed that our approach, through disciplined survey research and advanced predictive analytics, can absolutely identify the adults in the population who want and need education. That success gives us great confidence that we can help colleges in all 50 states,” MacKenzie said.
