The teach@home platform provides supplementary resources and family-friendly curriculum to support at-home learning.
VERNON HILLS, IL (April 14, 2020) — In response to school closures across the country, hand2mind has launched a new program, teach@home: Daily Lessons & Activities for K–5 Students, which offers free, daily, grade-appropriate lessons and activities created and delivered by teachers.
As an award-winning provider of hands-on learning tools, hand2mind believes in the power of learning by doing. To help the learning continue at home, each week teach@home provides parents and students:
• An easy-to-follow schedule differentiated by grade for K–5 students;
• Daily, grade-specific, teacher-delivered video lessons for math and literacy;
• Worksheets for the math and literacy lessons; and
• Special activities including art, STEM, social emotional learning, and more.
Each video is approximately 10 minutes long and paired with worksheets and activities to further student comprehension and engagement. The written content of every lesson is available in Spanish to reach a broad base of the communities in need.
“Like everyone, we are keeping a close eye on the impact of COVID-19 in our communities, around the country, and across the world,“ explained Rick Woldenberg, CEO of hand2mind. “Beyond keeping our employees safe in the midst of this pandemic, our goal as a family-owned business is to remain a trusted and reliable resource for teachers, parents, and students during these uncertain times.”
New videos will be posted daily for 12 weeks, and can be explored in a 12-week scope and sequence available on the teach@home website. Educational experts at hand2mind are creating and leading lessons, along with several guests including well-known educators Reagan Tunstall of Tunstall’s Teaching Tidbits, Christina Tondevold of Build Math Minds, Brooke Brown of Teach Outside the Box, Chelsey Odgers of Hipster Art Teacher, and Ashlyn Ellsworth of The Creative Classroom.
“While everyone tries to figure out what’s going to happen next, we’re going to do our part to make it a little easier on teachers, parents, and students,” said Woldenberg. “From all of us at hand2mind, we hope these tools provide everyone with peace of mind until kids can return to their classes safely.”
