Networking Day Excursions
ProfCon 2024 will begin with a special Networking Day on June 12. This day is designed to build connections and foster camaraderie among attendees through two adventure options: The Sightseeing Adventure and the Active Adventure. The Sightseeing Adventure includes a bus tour of Utah Olympic Park's most iconic sites, including the world’s highest Nordic ski jumps and one of the fastest sliding tracks. Those opting for the Active Adventure can choose from exhilarating activities like hiking, extreme tubing, and zip-lining. All participants can access the Ski Museum and 2002 Winter Games Museum.
In-Depth Sessions with Industry Experts and Like-Minded Professors
The following two days, June 13 and 14, will be packed with inspiring sessions from renowned educators and industry professionals. These sessions will cover the latest business, communication, and marketing education strategies and best practices. Attendees will be presented with innovative teaching methodologies and valuable insights to elevate their instruction.
“I got some pointers on how to teach my classes better about some technical things related to things like ChatGPT and SEO that are not my strongest suits,” said Kelly Crane, a Professor at the University of Kansas who attended ProfCon 2023. “But I've gained more confidence in how to teach that to my students based on what I learned at ProfCon.”
The four Keynote Speakers for the event are:
- Michelle Cirocco: the CEO of Televerde Foundation and the CIO for Televerde. Michelle was named one of the World-Changing Women in Conscious Business by Conscious Company magazine and Most Admired Leader by the Phoenix Business Journal. Cirocco will be speaking on the power of second chances.
- Chad Carr: a senior product marketing manager at Dell Technologies, where he leads go-to-market strategy for Dell’s 5G laptops. He also actively shapes the future workforce at Dell by participating in university recruiting for both undergraduate and graduate students. In his keynote session, Chad will explore strategies to bridge the gap between academia and the workplace.
- Danaka Porter, M.Eng.: a regional managing partner at iota consulting and a sessional lecturer at the Dhillon School of Business, where she teaches supply chain and project management. She also cofounded VitaNova Tech, a fertility company, and is completing her Ph.D. in cardiology at the Cumming School of Medicine. In her session, Danaka will share effective ways to adjust assignments, papers, and even exams to mitigate students’ reliance on and/or unauthorized use of artificial intelligence (AI) such as ChatGPT.
- Donald C. Kelly: the founder of the Sales Evangelist Sales Training and host of The Sales Evangelist podcast. Additionally, he is an adjunct professor at Brigham Young University-Idaho. In his session, Donald will share the five key strategies every student can leverage to maximize LinkedIn for both personal and business success.
