Dive Insight:
This case raises a potential issue for campus sexual assault investigations: Should colleges and universities be required to work together when a case involves students from more than one school? The alleged victim says she was apparently drugged by the football players. Nine days after the student filed her complaint with the police, Providence College issued a “No Trespass” order against the Brown students, but apparently Brown University was not informed. An attorney for the accused students filed a civil complaint in Superior Court against the Providence College student, claiming she made false and defamatory statements about his clients, but the complaint was dismissed.
