Tablets are increasingly being adopted in schools across the country. While they are no silver bullet, they are an effective educational tool with a lot of potential going forward. To get an idea whether universities see tablets as integral to their futures, we asked 50 university CIOs if tablets will play a significant role in their school's future technology plans as part of Education Dive "Mobility in Higher Education" 2013 survey.
Unsurprisingly, most CIOs (68%) indicated tablets will feature in their schools' future technology plans, reflecting the fact that tablets are quickly becoming an essential technology, helping students learn and teachers teach. However, a sizable portion (28%) said tablets will not play a significant role in their schools future technology plans, revealing that some still question tablets' effectiveness and may see them as an eye-catching but unnecessary tool.

RESULTS:
Yes — 68%
No — 28%
Other — 4%
