At the same time that police were searching for bodies of the three victims from the crash on Sunday, the University of Richmond was holding its graduation ceremonies. The third victim was the balloon’s pilot, Daniel Kirk. In a statement posted to the school’s website, university President Edward Ayers said: “As alumnae, classmates, and colleagues — and as invaluable and devoted mentors for our student-athletes — Ginny and Natalie have been beloved members of our community. Their leadership and friendship will endure in the lives of so many.”
