Because this is CUPA-HR’s first Non-Exempt Staff in Higher Education Salary Survey, it has no data on annual changes in salaries. The association now covers all types of higher ed staff with its salary surveys. Among office and clerical workers, the median salaries range from $28,233 for receptionist to $43,714 for executive assistants. For technical and paraprofessional workers, the lowest median was for animal care paraprofessionals — $31,600. The highest was for paralegals, at $49,504. In the skilled craft category, the range was from sign painter ($34,199) to the previously mentioned electrician supervisor. Service and maintenance workers ranged from food server to firefighter.
