Dive Insight:
Will Cal State set a trend for the rest of the country? For the first quarter of 2014, higher education jobs decreased slightly, but job postings for both full- and part-time positions increased. Cal State had 470 full-time professor hires in 2013. For the state's 112 community colleges, the number of hires is also increasing, but for the 10 schools in the University of California system, hiring will be flat. State funding for the Cal State system increased by $125 million last year.
