Dive Brief:
- Chegg's self-directed learning solutions are coming to Blackboard Learn thanks to a new partnership between the two companies.
- Specifically, Blackboard will integrate Chegg Study, Chegg Tutors, and Chegg Career Center.
- According to a press release, user research from Chegg has shown that 87% of students felt Chegg Study was helpful when it came to understanding homework, while 75% said it helped them prepare for exams.
Dive Insight:
So what do these three services from Chegg do, exactly? Chegg Study, which requires a membership, offers solutions for over 7,000 textbooks along with the ability to ask subject experts questions 24/7. Chegg Tutors was formed from the company's June acquisition of InstaEDU, a digital tutoring service providing access to video, voice, or text help for as low as $0.40 per minute. Finally, as you might expect from its name, Chegg Career Center allows students to learn more about careers and the skills required for them, as well as search and apply for jobs and internships.
For Chegg, the deal expands the company's reach. And by integrating these tools, Blackboard gets even more depth in its integrated offerings.
