Dive Brief:
- Coursera is partnering with a China-based Internet company to extend its courses to the region.
- The MOOC provider will offer courses in Chinese, and is working with volunteers to translate some English-language classes.
- Coursera has also formed partnerships with several universities in the region.
Dive Insight:
Coursera isn't the first MOOC provider to work its way into the Chinese market. Late last year, Udacity made its videos available for download on its own site, rather than just YouTube. The move was seen as one way to approach the Chinese market, where YouTube is blocked.
