Dive Insight:
According to prosecutors, on Dec. 5, 2013, Flanagan screamed at Patrick Murphy in a violent and threatening manner while standing between three feet and a couple of inches from his face. Murphy was at the university-owned presidential residence supervising a team of grounds workers, and Flanagan apparently became enraged because his decorative lights that were on shrubs had been moved outside the residence. Murphy was fired, but the university later hired him for another position.
