• Liberty had previously issued a statement that it did not have a partnership with Benny Hinn Ministries, and it had also issued a cease-and-desist order that required Hinn Ministries to take down all references to the university’s trademark and intellectual property from its website.

Godwin will continue as provost and “spend the next few years grooming his successors and guiding the team responsible for Liberty University’s pending ten year accreditation reaffirmation report,” said Liberty’ president and chancellor, Jerry Falwell Jr., on the university’s website. Godwin had appeared on Hinn’s TV show, “This is Your Day,” under the mistaken belief that Liberty had authorized Liberty University Institute of Biblical Studies courses to be sold via Hinn Ministries, the (Lynchburg) News & Advance reported.
