This week, Education Dive recapped 8 pieces of ed tech news we picked up during our recent trip to the annual SXSWedu conference. But there was more to our trip than ed tech: While in Austin, we also caught up with Newtown Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Joseph Erardi, who told us about his district's ongoing recovery from the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School and how SEL is playing a role in the path forward.
In higher ed, we also examined the current state of open educational resources. What impact are they having, and where will they go next?
Additionally, a financial responsibility test from the U.S. Department of Education was failed by 94 nonprofit and 66 for-profit private colleges, though the number of nonprofits on the low-end was down from last year.
