Dive Brief:
- Texas Gov. Rick Perry and officials from Texas A&M and Israel will gather in Jerusalem Wednesday to announce a new branch campus, Texas A&M Peace University.
- The new campus will be located in Nazareth, Israel's Arab capital, and will be financed by private donors.
- The student and teacher population of the campus is expected to include Jews, Arabs and international students and faculty.
Dive Insight:
If this project is realized, Texas A&M certainly won't the first American university to build a satellite campus in the Middle East, but it will be the first to build one in Israel. Graduates at the new campus are also expected to receive the same Aggie Ring as graduates at the home campus in College Station, Texas.
