- Gunmen were reported on two campuses in separate incidents on Sunday and Monday. One case turned out to be a false alarm, but in the other case, the alleged gunman was shot and killed by campus police.
- The fatal shooting occurred at Columbus State University in Georgia, where police responded to a report of a man with a gun. Zikarious Jaquan Flint was chased on foot by campus police for a short distance, and shot twice after he turned to face his pursuers.
- Stevenson University near Baltimore was under a “shelter in place” lockdown, with a warning of an “active shooter” on campus, for several hours Monday afternoon after a 911 caller reported a person with a long gun.

In the Stevenson case, the culprits turned out to be two students hunting in the woods near campus with BB rifles. The campus lockdown was called off after campus police talked to the students, but Monday evening classes were canceled. In the Columbus State incident, an attorney for Flint’s family says he was a visitor on campus and he was not armed. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating, which is common for a police shooting incident, the (Chattanooga, Tenn.) Times Free Press reports.
