Phi Gamma Delta was on probation for alcohol violations when Michael Evan Anderson, a freshman fraternity member, died following a fall from a cooling tower on top of a residence hall. During its investigation of the death, police found that the fraternity had held 20 unregistered fraternity events where alcohol was served to minors between December 2013 and April 2014. Police also uncovered at least 11 hazing incidents, as well as attempts by the fraternity members to cover up the violations.
