Cooper was charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm on school grounds. The first shooting incident was Sunday afternoon, when two men fired shots at a Paine College dormitory, injuring a student sitting outside the building. The student was struck in the shoulder with bullet fragments; the two men had not been found as of Monday night. After Monday’s shooting, police spent more than three hours searching buildings on the campus, which was locked down, The Augusta Chronicle reported. Georgia Regents University, also in Augusta, and public schools in the area also took security measures.
