Dive Insight:
Another day, another college rankings list. In many cases, a graduate’s field of study may be a better predictor of income than the school. As PayScale points out, the highest-ranked colleges have a lot of graduates with science, technology, engineering, and math degrees. PayScale’s bachelor’s degree-only top five are Harvey Mudd, the Naval Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Colgate University, and Stanford. The top two-year colleges, ranked by potential mid-career salaries, are the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, San Diego City College, De Anza College, Lee College, and NHTI-Concord’s Community College.
