In a National Governor’s Association meeting on Friday, July 13, Secretary of Education Arne Duncan advocated collaboration between state and federal governments, as well as with higher education institutions, to meet President Obama’s goal for the U.S. to be first in the world for college graduates.
The Census Bureau released data listing the number and percentage of graduates for each state as of 2009 and 2010, and a projection of the number of degree-holders by 2020.
Here are the 10 states who produced the most college graduates in 2010:
