- New Jersey’s Rowan University is set to offer a $25,000 bachelor’s degree in partnership with Rowan College at Gloucester County and Rowan College at Burlington County.
- NJ.com reports that students will be able to get their first three years toward the degree at the community colleges, taught by RCGC and RCBC faculty, and then finish their programs with one final year at Rowan University.
- The junior year courses in nursing, law/justice, psychology, and liberal studies will be taught by community college faculty with master’s degrees or PhDs based on the university’s curriculum, provided the program gets accredited and approved by the NJ President’s Council and the state secretary of education.

The 3+1 program in New Jersey is being billed as a way for students to save money on four-year degrees, offering a steep discount from the costs a transfer student would incur by going to Rowan University for his or her final two years and a decidedly cheaper degree than anyone could get by spending four years at a public or private four-year college.
Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker unveiled his own higher education affordability proposals this month. His bills would increase the tax deduction for student loan borrowers, create an emergency grant program for students who struggle financially, hire internship coordinators in the Department of Workforce Development and UW system, and require financial literacy training for first-semester college students.
