Dive Insight:
Colleges and universities across the country have been engaged in a race to the cloud, moving applications and processes to the new environment. That reduces the IT footprint on campus and outsources data management responsibilities that used to be handled internally. This may mean less flexibility for unique circumstances and a move to greater standardization. It has also changed the job description of IT professionals, many of whom must focus more on change management than solving problems with actual technology.
