Dive Brief:
- In a new partnership with General Assembly, Lynn University undergrads can “study abroad” at a coding campus for 16 weeks and get 15 credits in the process.
- Inside Higher Ed reports the semester-long program in technology design will be offered in San Francisco and New York City, with 10 weeks of classroom teaching and a six-week internship.
- Shorter, 10-day programs are also available in both cities as well as London and Sydney, and both program lengths are expected to give students job skills to supplement their Lynn educations.
Dive Insight:
Lynn University has at least one other partnership with an unaccredited institution, Watson University, where students can earn a bachelor’s degree in entrepreneurship. The Obama administration is finalizing the details of an experimental sites program that would set the rules for partnerships like the one between Lynn and General Assembly. This would give coding boot camps one path to federal financial aid, which they currently cannot receive as unaccredited continuing education options.
