Dive Insight:
Millions of students choose community college as a way to start their higher education careers or make themselves more qualified for new jobs. Not even half of them earn the degrees they initially enrolled for, however. Cengage Learning develops products to help students who need remedial help in math, English, or college skills classes. While these classes are critical for higher-level work, they often don’t count toward graduation requirements and add additional strain to students who need them. Cengage Learning and Achieving the Dream’s efforts to make these courses more fulfilling and relevant for students could be a key to keeping them in their seats through graduation.
