The state will pay former nursing students from Virginia Western Community College $2.4 million following a lawsuit over accreditation problems.
Va. reached a settlement with the 73 students, according to an Associated Press story. Their fraud suit claimed that they had been misled after the school lost its national accreditation and failed to inform them.
The college remains unconvinced that the students' employment prospects were negatively affected by the changes but opted to settle in the interests of ending the suit and moving forward.
