Dive Brief:
- With tech adoption so high among students and the schools they attend, the technology is often present to make QR codes an accessible way to give and get information in the classroom.
- Ed Tech Magazine reports teachers are using QR codes to distribute classroom materials, giving students quick and easy access to classroom websites and other online resources at their desks.
- QR codes can be posted on bulletin boards to direct people to students’ multimedia work or give more information about a posted piece of art, and they can be advertised at school events to direct parents and students to online surveys.
Dive Insight:
While many schools still do not have the resources to launch one-to-one device programs, they have become commonplace in districts that have the resources to invest in them. With new standardized tests designed to be administered on computers, schools have even more incentive to make sure their students are comfortable with technology, starting at a very young age.
A recent study showed teachers have concerns about the potential for distraction with technology in the classroom, but 94% said technology has had a positive overall impact on education. That positive feedback is good because it doesn’t look like the trend of increasing digital technology in classrooms is going to change directions anytime soon.
